Studio Papillon was founded in 2003 by Jennifer Bergamot-Rose. The papillon, or butterfly, represents the educational process.
The studio provides classical training with a twist. While instilling solid technique, foundations in music theory, and education in classical repertoire, the studio's goal is to deliver a love of music first. With enthusiastic students, anything is possible. In addition to classical training, Studio Papillon teaches jazz, pop, musical theatre, and improvisation to help each student achieve their musical goals.
Studio Papillon offers online and in-person piano, voice, guitar, songwriting and French lessons. Jennifer Bergamot-Rose teaches lessons out of our studio in The Plains, VA. In-home instruction is available from our other faculty members in the DC Metro Area and Virginia Hunt Country.
Encouraging Creativity and Fun.
Studio Papillon's primary goal is to spread the love of music. Our teachers customize lesson curriculum to support each student's goals. To ensure quality, all lessons include technique, theory and a blend of classical and jazz training.
During the global pandemic, our teachers challenged our students to create music videos to connect, uplift and refresh their experience in the absence of in-person recitals. The response to the challenge resulted in students creating interesting sets and producing high quality music videos.
We Love Teaching Little Ones.
Jennifer, our founder, particularly loves teaching 4-6 year olds piano. Their enthusiasm and high energy allows them to absorb new information easily. In fact, children this young have an easy time learning to read music, because they do not think about whether the task is easy or difficult. They are just excited. And it is this energy of excitement that moves the lessons forward.
This video features our 3-year old student, Noa, performing Ode to Joy at her first recital.
